Make Sure Your Name Appears as your Full Name in the Waiting Room

Many of you will know that the recent 11am Sunday Zoom Meeting was hacked or “Zoombombed”.  To prevent this we are implementing “Waiting Rooms” for Grace meetings.  You will not have to do anything different to join a meeting; however, you will not come directly into a meeting.  Rather you will be listed by user name to the host who will click you in if your name is recognized.  So it is important ahead of time to check your “Zoom name” and make sure it consists of your first and last name for easy recognition so the host can click you in quickly.  You can check your Zoom name by clicking the Zoom icon on your device and then clicking your photo or icon upper right.   Your Zoom name should be listed right at the top.  If it is not your full name, drop down to the “My Profile” menu selection and “Edit” your listed name.  (See Note below if this doesn't work.). Phone and tablet users may have to delete and reinstall the app to make changes if the above options don’t appear.  If you join a meeting without a clear name you may get a “chat” query from the host or not be let in.

Note: New versions of Zoom may not let you change your listed name as above.  In this case go to the zoom.us website and you should see something like pic below at the top right of the page:

or this one:

If it is like the first one then you should sign in with your username (usually email address and password).  Once you have signed in then the next time you should get the upper right area looking like the 2nd one.  When you see that click MY ACCOUNT and something like the picture below should appear.  The blue Edit is the place to click to finally have a place to enter your name that will appear when you sign in.  If there is a place to click remember for future meeting, then click that one too.
